Ok, so Wild Fred cut out some wing cores, and I'm doing the rest. Got the fuses cut out and split for the spars, gonna try and get the crutches done today, and get the wings and fuses glued together.

 here we go!

ply spars, except he going to strapping tape both sides of fuse over spars to form an i beam.

thom- cut the foam fin off. build the fin and rudder over plans, extend fin so it butts against top fuse spar. i been notching ends of fuse spar and fuse rear to insert fin post into, works good. don't forget the fin offset in slot.

Roger that.. on another note, the ply spars you ripped are narrower than the fuse, so the tape on the fuse isn't going to contact the spars.. ok, not ok?

Ok, centered the spars in the fuse, glue will fill void, and sand after. I'll cut the din of before continuing..

Now on to the wing!

Based on much dorkage I wouldn't use ply spars on something this size

I flew the one he built one of the alachua Flyers, thing flew fantastic. I'm not all too worried about it, if it goes in, it goes in. Build another, lol. It's not dork "proof" but out loud dork "resistant"..

here's my thoughts:

1) it's a $5 airframe as shown. if you put c/f in it, it'll cost more than double. i'd rater have 2 tough 5.00 planes than 1 10.00 plane that's not much stronger.

2) if you break spars, easy to fix with a couple popsickle stick splices and poly glue.

3) my lamsuk built like this. it survived nashbro, full throttle blenders, etc. has hit hard enough to bend crap outa the gear more than once. how strong do you really need it?

4) the ply strong in compression. putting the tape both sides, which is strong in tension, oughta form an I-beam as tough as anything out there fore mere pennies. and extremely light.

5) i design my stuff to FLY, not CRASH!

6) do you beef up a foamy? no, they so cheap you just throw away and get another. and this is cheaper.

you get 8 wings outa a 20.00 piece 2" foam. a 6 pack of 3/4 for fuses cost 10 bucks. a 4x8 sheet of utility ply cost 10 bucks, will make a bunch of spars! takes 4"x48" per plane. that's 22 planes per sheet. so, 6 planes for just over 5 bucks each. why change it?
edit- my bad, 21 planes per sheet!

yeah, that one i built george flew sweet! what made me want another light lamyak. good old fart plane, very well behaved. not that me and thom are... well, you know... old or anything!

we do have 1 thing in common- we both grew up on lake istokpoga! he was about 1/4 way around the lake, but considering not many even know where that big ass lake even is, that's damn close!

here's where i was at. they paved and named the dirt road, but same location. https://www.google.com/maps/place/3436+ ... 81.2289197
