PostPosted: Mon Jul 28, 2014 6:26 pm

:P hello again asking for a opinión.

A friend sells me a 50sx, NIB.

Could this engine be a good option for a mojo 40?

Thanks

Could it need a CCP?

Guys used to run them years ago here all the time. Your #1choice would be an OS .55AX but if you got it run it. I remember several having bearing issues IIRC.

Not a Mojo but I have been running a piped 50sx on a 3# 13 oz MadYak 40, its is good. It uses a smaller prop 12x4 than the 55x (13X4) but works well here at sea level. The nice thing is the 50sx and the 55ax use the same pipe and bearings, so if you decide to switch later on, you already have a pipe. Just my .02

Isn't Mex City around 7000 feet? May want to ebay it and get a 55 with a pipe, or go Epower. Get as much power as possible.

Deep inside the heart of every 2stroke engine there lives a desire to be piped with a can. In the very begining of its life, when little Chinese fingers put shaft to bearing to case, these engines hear rumors of the awesomeness of the CCP/DTP/MCP/BCP. The rumors become myth, the myths become legend, and inside every single one of these engines they dream to reach there potential.

Ask yourself, what kind of man are you to stand between a 2stroke engine and it's dreams?

I run a couple 50 sx engines. They totally rock better at least as good as the 55 ax.

Normally I'd say a 50SX would work great in a Mojo 40. But since you are in Mexico City and about 7300 feet above sea level, I don't think you're going to be very happy with a 50SX in a Mojo 40. Even a pipe can't make up for the loss of power due to the high altitude, and I seriously doubt that a 55AX with a CCP/DTC would work very well way up there.

If you're wanting good 3D performance, your best option is to go with electric power for that Mojo 40.

G32 on 4s 4000mah and a 15/7 prop? 14/8? I assume you'd want a bit higher pitch to get more bite in thin air.

Since an electric motor doesn't produce less power at higher elevation, I would think just going to more pitch in the thinner air.

you'd probably want 800-900kv. check out hobbypartz. guys have been having good luck with the ExceedRC Rocket 3520-800KV and 900KV motors. As for batteries, check value hobby. The Gforce batteries have been good for me. Though I've yet to have a big 4S4000 myself. Value Hobby also has a G32 thats about 800kv if you want to just order from one place.

Definitely recommend the Value Hobby Elites over the regular series--I've been very pleased with the 6S 3700 Elites, but had some crummy 1500 3S regulars, as well as a few 3-4S regular packs in the 3-4000mah range that were just ok. The Elites aren't much more money, but have lower internal resistance and hold voltage very well the whole flight. Either way, they're still better than Turdigy Nanocraps!

I'm flying this system on one 40 size plane and it is so awesome I am putting it on one of my older planes as well. In my opinion it would work very well on your Mojo.
